Wednesday

Today we learnt how to create our titles, i came up the idea of how i wanted our titles too look and what font it should be. Hopefully everthing falls in place

Media lesson

Today was a great lesson and we were able to come up with alot of great ideas such as:
CCTV camera shot
we are going to use a map
we are also going to make a newspaper
we have also changed our idea and we will film on monday

25 NOVEMBER

Today we edited our filming, I believe it was a very constructive lesson and probably our best so far. We were able to come up with allot of ideas and we made a schedule for all us. Our camera shots were very good but the storyline for the filming was not great as I first expected. Next week we will begin to film again and we hope to improve allot.

Filming First Day

On Wednesday we filmed our thriller opening. We chose two locations one inside school and one near South Norwood train station. Filming near an alley way in South Norwood was my idea because i was not very impressed with the first location.
Our filming went quite well and we were able to get allot of good camera shots which i felt great about. We also had allot of filming which I was not too keen on and I look forward to showing this footage to other people to get feedback

Our Production Logo

This is our production logo, we did not want our production logo to be extravagant but instead we wanted to emphasize the black background and the red. The reasons why we did this are because the black in the background represents the dark side of life and the red represents danger. Both of these together express the conventions of a thriller and what we want to show.

These are some production logo’s i have selected as influences, the reason I have chosen these production logo’s is because they all stand out and have different qualities

Conventions of a thriller opening

Dark lightning

Dark lighting
I chose the dark lighting because it builds and represents suspense and tension. It is very easy to create this mood and what it does is allow us to show the scenery but at the same time we don’t have to reveal too much. This is important as it builds up tension and suspense which as crucial when creating a thriller. I was inspired to create this idea by the likes of Michael Mann, he has been a great inspiration and I have researched and observed many of films to help me and my group with this task.

Half term homework

Camera shots we will use

This is a medium close up this is very effective and the reason for this is so that we can see all the characters in the picture. In this scene the camera is focusing on all three character and it showing their reaction to a character who is sitting on a sofa where their eyes are looking. In a scene it is vital that we see all of the characters who are interpretation something. Since there are three people in the shot we call it a three shot.  The director has made us concentrate on exactly on what he/she wants us to. As soon as the camera becomes a medium close we immediately change our focus on the three characters on the sofa.
This scene was shot as an over the shoulder shot. The reason for this is because as we see there are two people and a poker table. Now from here the director has made us establish that the dealer is the less important character in the scene. This is the reason I think that the director chose to use this shot. The shot makes the viewer concentrate on the two things the women and the table as a result the director used the over the shoulder shot. Using this shot also shows that the dealer has some importance in the scene rather than just not included him in the shot.
